New Bethlehem Little League

Overview

The baseball and softball seasons are right around the corner and many volunteers will be needed to help make them a success.

New Bethlehem Little League is a program of leadership, preparing today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. NBLL relies on devoted volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly. NBLL is always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate events and activities. As a volunteer, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children.

All parents of children involved in New Bethlehem Little League are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a Parent Volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals.

No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities require little or no training. What you see during Little League games is a fraction of what you can do as a volunteer. There are opportunities to volunteer as a team manager, coach or assistant; to help with field maintenance, at registrations or working in the concession stand; or by becoming a member of the Board of Directors.

Volunteer Application, Clearances and Background Checks

Effective December 31, 2014, the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (23 Pa.C.S. ยง 6344) was broadened to include any volunteer who will work with children. In order to be compliant with the law, all NBLL managers, coaches and assistants are required to obtain or update the following reports prior to the start of the season in which they wish to volunteer:

(1) A clean criminal history report from the Pennsylvania State Police.
(2) A clean child abuse history report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (ChildLine).
(3) A clean criminal history report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (fingerprinting required).
-OR- A completed Pennsylvania Fingerprint Waiver Form for individuals having resided in PA for the previous ten years.

In addition to the clearances required by the state, Little League International requires all volunteers complete a Volunteer Application and background check annually. Use the link below to take a completed application to an onsite registration. After submitting a Volunteer Application, a NBLL administrator will provide an email link for volunteers to complete the background check online. The background check is provided free of charge by Little League's national provider - JD Palentine.

Links for completing the needed clearances are provided below.  Please email [email protected] in order to obtain and fill out the JDP background check.
